World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, Germany
Considered the Wimbledon of horse events, this is the ultimate horse show for those in the know. With major competitions in show-jumping, dressage, driving, eventing and vaulting, the show also features some very special performances to live music. Highly recommended.
5–14 July
Calgary Stampede, Calgary, Canada
More than just a rodeo, there is something for everyone at this fabulous event. It offers the best performers in Western and stunt riding, and there are relay races, derby, and all the usual rodeo events. Come for the horses and stay for the motorbikes, live music, dog show, parades, shopping, and incredible food. You will be spoiled for choice.

Paris Olympics: Dressage, Jumping, Eventing and Para Dressage, Chateau de Versailles, Paris, France
Quick, pop the champagne! Equestrian sports first became part of the Olympics at Paris in 1900, and this year sees a historic return of the Games to the City of Lights. All the equestrian events will take place in the stunning grounds of the palace of Versailles, a fabulous destination even when it’s not hosting this very special global occasion. A once-in-a-lifetime experience for those lucky enough to attend, the rest of us can enjoy the competitions onscreen from the comfort of our own homes.
13–16 August
Il Palio di Siena, Piazza del Campo, Siena, Italy
The craziest horse race in the world takes place twice a year (there's also a race in late June through early July) in the beautiful shell-shaped main square of this medieval Italian town. Dating from the seventeenth century, the event has historically been dangerous and hard on both horses and riders, but the organizers have recently introduced safety measures and protections which have helped to reduce injuries. Although it remains controversial, this event is a spectacular slice of local history and forms the centrepiece of a series of festivities and pageants.

For true glamour, this is where you need to be. With the exact date still to be announced, this final marks the climax of the 2024 World Polo Tour. If this sounds too ambitious, check the other locations and dates on the tour (Florida could be fun!).
